Realizing a carbon-recycling society based on Local Production Local Consumption

The Research Center for Negative Emissions Technologies was established in April 2021.
CO₂ management, starting with CO₂ capture directly from the air, followed by CO₂ conversion and storage, has become an urgent issue to be solved worldwide. It will become increasingly important for society to realize technologies for capturing and converting of atmospheric CO₂ and storing it underground, as well as technologies for harvesting and fully utilizing the sunlight energy.
This center will play a role as a comprehensive interface between basic research, application development, and social implementation, focusing on research and development of CO₂ cycle systems. We will promote research and development activities, including international and industrial collaboration, to realize a new “Beyond Zero” society where carbon resources are locally produced and locally eliminated.
